President Donald Trump announced over $2 billion in funding towards American mining on Friday, August 7th.

The funding will go towards new mining projects, battery materials and rare earth alternatives. President Trump also highlighted over $180 million dollars towards mining education and training.

President Trump says these investments are to strengthen the American mining industry, protect supply chains and reduce the use of foreign materials.

“Over the past 18 months, our administration has signed or approved more than 160 Minerals deals worth nearly $40 billion. Today, the United States is opening new mines at the fastest pace. And we opened the first American rare earth mine in more than 70 years,” said President Trump. “We’ve announced the construction of the first new aluminum smelter. Since 1980, we authorized deep sea mining to unlock vast untapped resources off our coasts. And we’re rebuilding the national defense stockpile. And investing more than $12 billion in a brand-new strategic mineral reserve. And we’re protecting American workers with historic tariffs on foreign copper, aluminum, steel. American miners have never had a greater champion in the White House than President Donald Trump.”

The White House put out a list of investments you can find here.
